The Henderson High School Jazz band performed on Dec. 7, 2019, at the opening of the Lake Forest Park Plaza.
The band was the first to perform on the newly built stage.
“It went well and I’m very happy with how my solo sounded,” sophomore Turner Sugg said. “However, there is always room for improvement.”
The band played a few well-known Christmas tunes, such as Jingle Bell Rock, Big Band Holiday, Up On The Housetop and Joy To The World, with a jazzy twist.
“By far my favorite song was Jingle Bell Rock,” junior Kolby Mansinger said. “It’s upbeat and makes people dance.”
The band even featured a few soloists throughout the tunes.
“It is pretty surreal when you think about it,” junior Chakota Clinton said. “Twenty years down the line, I can tell my own kids that I was the first to perform on that stage.”
