Relationships, ownership, attitude, and resilience. This is how we do business at Henderson ISD.
With the hope of centering school around 4 key values superintendent Dr. Thurston B. Lamb, Jr. came up with the concept of ROAR. It started with the intent to give school organizations the opportunity to set expectations that create a mindset and frame how we do business.
“When you discuss culture and climate of any organization, the expectations and values give the work context and frame human interactions, thinking, decision making, innovation, creativity, and problem-solving,” human resource director Amanda Wallace said. “They can learn about change, communication, and leadership. Each are critical 21st-century skills and it should feel like a supportive environment. You can also embody the very same core values in your daily interaction and communication with your peers.”
