Netflix’s Bandersnatch Makes Waves
If you have a Netflix or even a Twitter account, you’ve probably heard about a little thing called Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Bandersnatch is a “Choose Your Own Adventure” style movie that was released Dec. 28, 2018. Bandersnatch has multiple endings and many paths that the viewer follows depending on their decisions throughout the game.
Bandersnatch gathered a ton of hype before the release and even more afterward, but is it really as amazing as everyone says it is? In this humble journalist’s opinion, YES! Bandersnatch is intriguing and fun and different from any Netflix movie you’ve ever seen. The fact that you can play it again and again and get different results every time is insane. I personally have gone through it twice — once by myself and once with a friend — and not only was the ending different, but the order of the storyline and even the storyline itself was different. It’s an experience that you’ll definitely enjoy even if you are bad at making decisions.
Now that I’ve discussed the reasons Bandersnatch is amazing, I’d like to discuss why it might not be the best fit for everyone. Bandersnatch is a bit profane. The show is rated MA, and it does earn this rating with profane language and mature themes, such as drug use and (spoiler alert) murder. The show has also been sued by the author of the original “choose your own adventure” book.
So, in conclusion, Bandersnatch is an incredibly intricate and interesting program that will draw you in until you’re sitting on your couch for two hours screaming at your TV and scared to death of crystalline ash trays.
