HHS Drama Department Opens Fall Show
The HHS Theatre’s annual fall show, She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen opens this Saturday after the Syrup Festival.
“This play is really an awesome opportunity for me,” senior Edmon Howard, senior and actor for the role of Chuck, said. “It’s a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun and lets me feel like a part of a family.”
The play has been worked on in and out of school by the whole crew relentlessly since early September.
“This play is really something else,” sophomore Max Cloutier, the actor for Steve, said. “We’ve worked so hard on it, and the subject matter is something I can really relate to and enjoy, and my part feels like it was tailored just for me.”
She Kills Monsters revolves around the story of high school cheerleader, Agnes, learning about her deceased younger sister, Tilly, through a Dungeons and Dragons campaign that Tilly wrote.
“We had a lot of new people this year, and they’re all doing really well,” senior Brianna Rumbo, the actress of Lillith, said. “It’s really good for my last show, and I’m glad I’m part of it.”
The theatre program will also be selling food at the Syrup Festival until 4.
“This play has been really cool to be a part of and it’s been great meeting new people,” sophomore Jacey Jarrell, in the role of Agnes said. “This is my first lead role and I’m confident I’ll do well.”
The play is open 3 nights: Nov. 10th at 7:30 p.m., Nov.11th at 2:30 p.m. and Nov. 13th at 7:30 p.m.
“She Kills Monsters is a massive undertaking for the Henderson Theater Department, and the students have met it headfirst with extreme confidence and determination,” director and theatre teacher Ryan Angell said. “I’m very proud of the hard work and sacrifices these guys have made in making this epic fantasy come to life on stage and bringing to our community a heart moving, action-packed story of nerds, D&D, and how we all have monsters to fight in our lives.”
