Henderson Independent School District will sponsor Rusk County College Night Nov. 14 at the Henderson Civic Center.
“Even though Henderson ISD is sponsoring this event, we would like to extend invitations to anyone living in Rusk County or the surrounding areas to attend,” HISD Counselor DeAnna Molloy said. “It will be open to anyone of any age that is interested in attending a post-secondary school in the fall or spring of next year.”
Several prominent colleges will be in attendance, including (but not limited to) University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Stephen F. Austin State University. Representatives for branches of the military will be there as well.
“We will have a representative from Stephen F. Austin’s Financial Aid office doing a presentation on the different ways they can get money to help pay for college,” Molloy said. “They will also be able to gather information about the degrees they are interested in and compare the schools to find the best fit for them.”
This year, the event will also include college testing information for the ACT, SAT and AP Exams. The event has already grown from last year and will continue with community turn out and support.
“I hope that we can build our college night to be the premier event of East Texas,” Molloy said. “I am excited that we have almost 60 colleges, universities and military branches verified to attend. I hope next year we can have even more!”
