Jael Torres, Spanish 1 teacher, explained how growing up, his passions have always been basketball and baseball, later on finding out that he found joy in teaching young students the Spanish language.

¨I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, but I was raised in Guayama Puerto Rico for 26 years.¨

He explained how he went to 3 different schools in that time period, later on graduating from Guamani School in 2008.

¨After high school, I went to college at The University Of Turabo graduating in the year of 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in communication.¨

He admitted that even after that, he still wanted to pursue his passion for sports.

He explained, ¨Apart from teaching students, coaching basketball, and playing baseball, volleyball also seems to entertain me.¨

When asked for more detail over his athlete life, he talked about how he has been a basketball referee for the past nine years, and how much he enjoyed it.

¨I plan on staying at Henderson for a while, because I have enjoyed being at Texas, and the district of Henderson is an amazing place to teach, from the great education it offers, to the wonderful students I get to educate every day.¨

He explained to us how he doesn’t plan on moving away from Henderson, for he enjoys the life he has here, and how even though he will always follow his passion over sports, he will always teach students Spanish for as long as he can.
